Degree Programs

Professor and Chair Robert NemanichOn behalf of the Department of Physics, I’d like to thank you for your interest in graduate degree programs at Arizona State University. We have a traditional degree programs leading to a doctoral degree, and two professional degree programs that are specially tailored to address the needs of working professionals who wish to broaden their expertise through a fast-track, immersive atmosphere.

In all of our programs, students are part of a Research I university and a physics department that has sustained national and international leadership in many research areas. In addition, students are guided by a high-quality faculty comprised of some of the finest researchers, teachers and mentors in the field today.

The Master of Natural Science (M.N.S.) program is primarily designed for science teachers who seek interdisciplinary graduate training in physics, physical science or physics education. See details.

The Professional Science Master’s (P.S.M.) program engages working professionals in industry as well as traditional graduate students in the study of nanoscience. In conjunction with the ASU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, this interdisciplinary program immerses students in a professional research environment. For complete information, please view the new Nanoscience website.

We hope you will consider one of these outstanding professional programs, and I invite you to explore the many opportunities available to you through ASU physics graduate programs.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Nemanich, chair and professor
