MnAs films on GaAs surfaces transform from the ferromagnetic to the nonmagnetic state between 10 C and 40 C. In this temperature region they show a pronounced exchange bias effect which is important in magnetic recording and data storage. The purpose of this project is to obtain an understanding of the origin of the exchange bias by MOKE measurements of films between 30 and 300 nm thickness as a function of applied magnetic field and temperature.
