Biography

Gary Adams has 20 years of full-time teaching experience at a variety of levels, from middle school and high school in Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands, through university level as an instructor at North Carolina State University and most recently here at Arizona State University. He received his M.S. in experimental low-energy nuclear physics from North Carolina State, and his doctorate in computational solid state theory from Arizona State, specializing in first-principles molecular-dynamical simulations of semiconductor surfaces and fullerene molecules. Ongoing research interests include nanotubes and polymerized fullerenes. His scientific publications have appeared in the journals Science, Physical Review Letters, and Chemical Physics Letters, among others. He has given invited talks on the physics of fullerenes throughout the U.S. and in Europe.
