We are seeking a postdoctoral research scholar team member for work in Statistical Inference in Biophysics. This is a full-time benefits-eligible appointment for one year with the possibility of renewal up to one or two more years. Start date is flexible.
The successful candidate will work with Dr. Presse to develop strategies to infer dynamical models of processes from complex data sets--with resolution down to the single molecule level--inside living systems. Briefly, our goal is to use tools of Statistics, including but not limited to Bayesian nonparametrics, to unravel single molecule dynamics in crowded environments as well as their interactions leading up to protein complex assembly kinetics and function. We infer models from state-of-the-art imaging data sets. As such, our work fosters cross-disciplinary knowledge of optics, computational statistics, numerical analysis, photophysics and biophysics. This postdoc hired here will collaborate closely with experimentalists and graduate students.
Knowledge in the following areas is helpful: Computational statistics, Python/Matlab, stochastic processes, machine learning. Strong programming skills are required.

Ph.D. completed 4 or fewer years ago in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related discipline is required.
